The argan tree grows exclusively in the southwestern region of Morocco. Standing at 5-10 meters in height, it is incredibly resistant and able to thrive in conditions of extreme heat, drought and poor, arid soils. Argan oil, extracted from the seeds of the argan tree, has been produced in an artisanal manner in southern Morocco since ancient times. It is used in lamps to produce light, and by Berber women for its nutritional and cosmetic benefits.
