Native to India, the mango tree is grown in all tropical areas, mainly for its fruit. The fruit’s yellow, fibrous flesh has a delicious flavor, while its stone contains an edible kernel that produces a very rich paste used to thicken sauces. A vegetable oil can also be produced by pressing the kernel. Mango oil is rich in omega-9 essential fatty acids, and is used in cosmetics to hydrate, nourish and promote soft, supple, comfortable skin.
