The power of plants

Paprika, or as it is commonly known, “pepper plant,” is native to South and Central America and known for vibrantly colored fruits that contain a large number of seeds. These fruits, the “peppers,” have been eaten for over 9,000 years. Paprika was one of the first plants cultivated for food by the Aztecs, Mayas and Incas. The peppers are used as a vegetable ingredient in cooking, or eaten raw as a side dish. Paprika—the spice obtained when the fruit is dried—is widely used for its coloring properties, and appreciated for its peppery flavor, aromatic fragrance and vivid hue.
