Native to the rainforests of China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. It was under the Tang dynasty in China, from 618 to 907, that tea became a refined ritual of daily life. Over time, matcha tea became the drink of the Japanese elite. The Emperor and top government officials, along with the Samurai, drank matcha tea before combat to increase their energy and concentration.
