A helping hand in Transylvania

After two years of planting trees in India, Clarins, through its Seeds of Beauty program, is now focusing on Transylvania, Romania, in partnership with PUR.

The forests of Transylvania, rich in biodiversity, are facing soil degradation, deforestation, and climate-related pressures. Our collective goal is to reforest degraded woodlands by planting diverse native tree species, restoring ecosystems functions, improving soils and reducing erosion. The project also involves schoolchildren through environmental education and hands-on tree planting, giving younger generations an active role in restoring their forests.

Engaging future generations

The project also has a strong social dimension, engaging schoolchildren through agroforestry education, hands-on tree planting and regular updates to track the growth of their trees, raising environmental awareness while giving young generations a concrete role in rebuilding their forest

Why do we plant trees

One tree can generate multiple benefits

BENEFITS FOR THE ECOSYSTEM

  • climate change Adaptation to climate change.
  • erosion Soil enriched with organic matter and decontaminated, and risks such as landslides and damages caused by erosion are mitigated.
  • biodiversity Improved pollination, pest control and preservation of biodiversity.
  • water Water purification and improved infiltration and water holding capacity of soil and atmosphere.

LOCAL COMMUNITY BENEFITS

  • revenue Increased and diversified revenue
  • education Education and training for a more sustainable agricultural model
  • customs Preservation of customs and traditional know-how

Our model for action

Thanks to PUR, Clarins has been able to provide on-the-ground support for an action model based on 4 criteria:

1
